12 Things Pastors Enjoy When Doing Ministry With Their Wife

We often hear from pastors about all things related to leadership and not so much about doing ministry in partnership with their wife. At three different pastors’ and wives’ conferences, at which I was a speaker, I asked the pastor delegates to answer this question - What is your greatest joy in doing ministry in partnership with your wife? These are the top twelve responses from the seventy three pastors who answered my question:

1. She fills my lack in gifting, ability and focus

2. Her encouragement, wisdom and ministry skills

3. Doing life together, complementing each other, bringing a different perspective

4. Seeing her grow in the Lord

5. Her grace and strength always compensate for my lack and weaknesses

6. Doing something important with my wife

7. Strength, wisdom and support

8. Her input and presence

9. Seeing her shine in her role and being fulfilled in that

10. My partner in everything

11. Being able to share the burden and joy, ups and downs

12. Having the partnership, support and love of another, same vision and working together

For all ministry couples, partnership is necessary for success both in a marriage and in ministry. Regardless of a pastor’s wife’s level of involvement in the life of their church the couple remains a partnership team. God has joined you together as a couple and has called you as a couple. Whatever ministry looks like for you or how it is outworked for you as an individual couple, you are a partnership team serving God together.

Any pastor reading this blog, I ask you the same question,
